When you came to the Feldenkrais Method you were ready to feel and enjoy the magical delight of discovering yourself and evolving. You were ready for this journey. You felt the promise of a fuller life, a new perspective, and the profound knowledge you were looking for.

 

And you enrolled in a professional training.

After 2 years you received permission to teach ATM. But very soon you felt that some tools were still missing and you were often alone with your questions. Your peers gave you support, but they did not have much more experience than you had. And your new clients were not as open and as enthusiastic about ATM as you were.

 

You felt that you had learned a lot, but still . . . some relevant pieces of knowledge, were clearly missing from the puzzle. Sometimes, in interactions with your new clients, you felt that some of the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ from your training were haunting you and disturbing your creativity.

 

Your dreams

You dreamed of working with many people, of all ages and walks of life. You imagined them participating enthusiastically in your classes and sessions, eager to return and to continue learning with you in order to experience the longer journey, beyond the idea of just getting rid of aches and pains. And you envisioned these clients telling other people about the treasures they discovered with you.

The people around and what they need

The majority of people outside are not as ready for the journey as you were. They need meaningful guidance and help, to see and understand the differences between sports, therapy, meditation - and our Method. They need to understand how your competence is different from anything else existing elsewhere. They need to see the meaning of what they do with you.

 

They need to really understand how the “discovery tours” that you guide them through can make their dreams come true - improving dancing, walking, running, meditating, climbing, practicing Yoga, bicycle riding and more.

 

To create the right frame for other people to experience this wonder and commit themselves to the journey you offer, you should be willing and able to give them what they ask for or need. And they do not need only movement.

 

They have to understand a bit of the structure of your teaching and the nature of your competence. The more they get it, the more they will accept and make use of a system that proposes improvement and the achievement of difficult tasks with ease and elegance. They will understand that Feldenkrais is not another therapy, one of the 200 therapies around. (To compete with the 200 therapies around is not a good idea. And just to declare that we are better than every therapy around is even

worse!)

What you need

To make your dreams and wishes  come true, you yourself need to see more clearly the meaning of what you do. You need clearer frames of reference. You need the knowledge you have been looking for .


Because every time you prepare a class with a deeper physical and mental understanding of the theme, you will have more success connecting with your students and a better appreciation of their questions.  The answers you provide to their questions will become more satisfying, both to them and to you.

 

You will increase your competence  and grow your business.
